LONG PRAIRIE, Minn. — The Todd County Attorney's Office dismissed all charges connected to an Amber Alert in northern Minnesota's Red Lake Tribal Nation last month.

Jennifer Stately, 35, was charged with four felony charges, including: third-degree assault of a victim under 4; child torture; malicious punishment of a child; and child neglect resulting in substantial harm.

According to the criminal complaint, Stately was taken into custody about three hours after 3-year-old Ethan Stately went missing from the tribal area. Court documents said Ethan was found and brought to safety after officers conducted a traffic stop on Stately's vehicle as she drove along Highway 71. Police said they could see scabs and open sores covering his body.

The charges were dismissed Monday "In the interest of Justice," according to court documents.

When asked about the charges being dismissed, a spokesperson with the Todd County Attorney's Office replied, "our office has no further involvement in this matter and will not be providing any comments at this time. Thank you."
