ROSEVILLE, Minnesota — As dozens of Gophers fans packed into Joe Senser's Kitchen & Bar to watch the Outback Bowl, they knew Minnesota would have a tough game ahead against Auburn.
"If they show up, they can compete. If they don’t show up, it can be a long day," said Clarenz Dukes, who added he enjoyed watching North Minneapolis alumni grow up and do great things for the Gophers this season.
And it was North Minneapolis alum Tyler Johnson who brought the fans to their feet inside Senser's time after time, with an absolutely dominating performance.
As the clock ran out, and the Gophers secured the upset win, one woman stood up and screamed, "Ahh, it’s great! It’s fantastic! I love it! I wish I was there!"
And several fans made the "row the boat" motion, a man said, "Thank you Gophers, thank you PJ Fleck, we love you Minnesota Gophers!"
