SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Saint Paul Public Library (SPPL) officials announced Thursday that the second shipment of library cards displaying the laser loon state flag design submission — has arrived.
A couple of weeks ago, SPPL fired off the Laser Loon launch with the limited edition cards and they sold out in a few days.
At the time, a representative told KARE 11 that more cards were being ordered after they ran out "due to the enthusiastic demand."
"We hoped that the fun design would resonate with the community – but we did not anticipate the incredible response to the Laser Loon," said Claire Huber, marketing and communications specialist who manages SPPL's social media account, in a news release. "We're thrilled to be providing another set of these library cards after the first set were scooped up in just a few days."
Saint Paul residents can receive a free library card at any of the city's 13 locations with a photo ID and proof of address.
"Current cardholders who would like the limited-edition card will need to apply for a replacement card, which comes with a new individual account number. They can also opt for a free sticker to apply to their existing card," according to the release.
Those who come away with a laser loon card will also get 15% off for The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library's online shop, which you can use to publicly show your support with a variety of merch, including a laser loon canvas book bag or t-shirt.
SPPL officials said they'll keep their website updated about the availability of the cards.
On Feb. 13, SPPL announced it would be offering the new cards with the popular design that was originally submitted for Minnesota's new state flag. The laser-eyed loon did not make the cut, instead, the flag design adopted in December includes a dark blue shape resembling Minnesota on the left, with a white, eight-pointed North Star on it.
