STILLWATER, Minn. — On a day when many families celebrated Christmas, a small group gathered outside the Freighthouse in downtown Stillwater to search for missing 20-year-old George Musser.
George's cousin Emily Dalbec organized the Christmas morning search, which involved more than 100 people from the community, family and friends.
"This poster is for my missing nephew, George Musser," said George's aunt, Mary Reese told KARE 11 that morning.
"Please pray, we are just hoping we find him alive and well and we're just hoping for a Christmas miracle," said Dalbec.
"I lost a son, too," said John Guzik, who came out on Christmas morning to help in the search.
Twenty-year-old George Musser, who lived in Stillwater and was a student at the University of River Falls in Wisconsin, was last seen at Brian's Bar in downtown Stillwater at roughly 2:10 a.m. on Christmas Eve.
"We're heartbroken," said Dalbec. "We're trying to do something to find him."
On Sunday, Dec. 25, Stillwater Police confirmed that Musser's body was found around 7 p.m. Few details have been released as police continue their investigation.
"Thank you to everyone who searched, shared, and prayed," Emily Dalbec wrote on Facebook after Musser's body was found. "We are forever grateful for your support."
A GoFundMe account created to help the family pay for funeral costs and other expenses has raised more than $32,000 as of Monday morning.
A candlelight vigil "to honor the incredible life of George Musser" will be held at 7 p.m. in front of the Stillwater Lift Bridge on Monday, Dec. 26.
