Minneapolis celebrates Fourth of July with Red, White & Boom! festival

Thousands of people started off the holiday with a run in downtown Minneapolis.

MINNEAPOLIS — The annual Red, White & Boom! Festival is back in Minneapolis with a full day of events.

It all starts with the annual TC Half-Marathon, Relay and 5K organized by Twin Cities in Motion and presented by Summit Brewing Company.

Some 3,500 people will participate in the races. Once they're done, a picnic will be held.

Later in the day, check out music, food and family activities along the downtown riverfront from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Then it all comes to a close with the annual fireworks display, which starts at 10:00 p.m.

The city celebration is hosted by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. More than 75,000 people are expected to attend this year's events.
