MINNEAPOLIS — A 21-year-old Minneapolis man is charged with murder after prosecutors say he shot and killed a man last week in a thrift store parking lot.

Angel Jesus Zavala Gallegos is charged with second-degree murder after he allegedly pulled out a gun and shot a 26-year-old man while making a drug deal, according to the criminal complaint.

Minneapolis Police say the shooting occurred at around 2 p.m. on the 2900 block of 12th Avenue South. Officers found a man lying in the parking lot with a single gunshot wound to his head. A witness told police the shooting occurred during a drug deal involving the victim and Gallegos.

When speaking to police, Gallegos said it was two other men who shot and killed the 26-year-old, later identified as D'Shawn JC Porter. Gallegos told officials he was about to hand drugs to the victim when he saw a semi-automatic gun ion his face and a flash. He added that he wasn't sure if anyone was hit.

Prosecutors say surveillance video shows a man, who one witness described as Gallegos, walking to the back of the parking lot with the victim before the shooting. The video also shows people running from the area after the shooting. Other surveillance videos indicated that the suspect touched two "unique" locations when leaving the scene. Officers were able to pull partial friction ridge impressions that police say belonged to Gallegos.
