Man ID'd in officer-involved shooting in Lakeville

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner says Kent Richard Kruger died from multiple gunshot wounds.

LAKEVILLE, Minn. — Authorities have identified a 36-year-old man who died in an officer-involved shooting Friday in Lakeville.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner says Kent Richard Kruger died from multiple gunshot wounds. The "manner of death is homicide and the BCA is investigating," according to a news release.

Authorities say deputies and officers from the Dakota County Sheriff's Office and Lakeville police were serving an Order for Protection on Friday, which included an order for Kruger to vacate the residence. Kruger also had an active arrest warrant for fourth-degree assault of a peace officer.

According to the Sheriff's Office, within seconds of authorities entering the residence, Kruger opened fire on the deputies and officers and one Dakota County deputy returned fire, killing him. No officers or deputies were harmed in the incident.
