GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn — More Minnesotans than ever donated on Give to the Max Day — the biggest fundraising day of the year for the state's nonprofits and schools.

Officials said donors from Minnesota and worldwide gave more than $37 million to 6,556 organizations on Thursday.

That's up substantially from the $34.2 million donated last year and breaks the all-time record of $34.3 million for 6,457 organizations set in 2021.

"Organizers at GiveMN are delighted with the outcome, particularly in light of national trends suggesting that donations may remain flat or decline again this year. This remarkable display of generosity bolsters the resilience of nonprofits and schools across Minnesota, many of which depend on Give to the Max as their largest annual fundraiser," organizers stated in a news release.

The statewide tradition of Give to the Max Day began in 2009, and since then, nearly one million donors have contributed more than $300 million to nonprofits and schools. In 2009, the total donations added up to $14.5 million for 3,434 organizations.
