MINNEAPOLIS — Scooter usage is on the rise in the Twin Cities and officials are looking for ways to best accommodate them without causing obstruction to traffic and pedestrians.
The City of Minneapolis has begun adding dedicated scooter parking in areas of Downtown Minneapolis.
A tweet from the city showcases the parking areas that are part of a pilot program that aims to understand where and how combined bike and scooter infrastructure use and curb space can lessen obstructions to sidewalks and pedestrians.
Minneapolis city leaders urge riders to wear a helmet. They also say scooter riders should treat scooters like bikes and ride in bike lanes.
