Now just two weeks out from November's general election, Minneapolis officials have increased access to polling places for those who opt to cast their votes early.
The news came Monday as the city said it would open several pop-up voting locations throughout the city, as well as expand hours for the main Early Voting Center in northeast Minneapolis.
New hours at the Early Voting Center are as follows:
- Monday through Friday, Oct. 21-Oct. 25 — 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Saturday & Sunday, Oct. 27 & Oct. 27 — 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Monday, Oct. 28 — 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Tuesday, Oct. 29 — 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Wednesday & Thursday, Oct. 30 & Oct. 31 — 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Friday, Nov. 1 — 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Saturday & Sunday, Nov. 2 & Nov. 3 — 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Monday, Nov. 4 — 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Early Voting Center is closed on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Minnesota voters can look up their Election Day polling place here. If you're outside of Minnesota, visit vote.org to find your local voter location.
The city of Minneapolis has also erected additional early voting sites, including Urban League Twin Cities (2100 Plymouth Ave. N.) and Bethel Lutheran Church (4120 17th Ave. S.). The city said these locations will operate during the same hours as the main voting center at 980 E. Hennepin Ave.
Voters can also cast their ballots at various pop-up locations, including:
- Oct. 22: Weisman Art Museum (333 E. River Pkwy.) — 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Oct. 23: Higher Ground Evergreen Residence (177 Glenwood Ave.) — 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Oct. 24: Minneapolis Institute of Art (2400 3rd Ave. S.) — 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Oct. 25: Midtown Global Market (920 E. Lake St.) — 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Oct. 26: Pillsbury House + Theater (3501 Chicago Ave.) — 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Oct. 27: Capri Theater (2027 W. Broadway) — 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Oct. 28: Lynhurst Park (1345 W. Minnehaha Pkwy.) — 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Oct. 29: Farview Park (621 N. 29th Ave.) — 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Oct. 30: Little Earth United Tribes (2501 Cedar Ave. S.) — 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Oct. 31: Cedar Cultural Center (416 Cedar Ave.) — 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Nov. 1: Grace-Trinity Community Church (1430 W. 28th St.) — 11 a.m. 6 p.m.
The city said the pop-ups will feature the same security measures, rules and processes as the main site.
Officials remind voters there's still time to submit your absentee ballots by mail or in-person at any early voting site up until the eve of Election Day. On Nov. 5, ballots can only be dropped at the Minneapolis Elections Office at 980 E. Hennepin Ave., or the Hennepin County Government Center at 300 S. 6th St., until 8 p.m.
