MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota Timberwolves fans without tickets to the second game of the best-of-seven series are being told to "bring ya a** downtown" -- anyway.
Team officials announced Wednesday a block party will be held Friday for Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals across from Target Center.
The free event will start at 4 p.m. on the corner of 1st and 6th Avenues
It will go until the end of the game and require a ticket through the Timberwolves app.
The block party will have a large-screen TV, pregame entertainment from Nur-D & DJ Cav, a Chick-fil-A food truck, a Michelob ULTRA mobile bar and Timberwolves merchandise for sale.
"We are so excited to kick-off the Western Conference Finals this week, activating downtown in a variety of ways, including a 'Wolves Back' Block Party on Friday," said Timberwolves and Lynx Chief Operating Officer Ryan Tanke in a release. "It's an incredible time to be a Timberwolves fan and we look forward to providing the best fans in the NBA with exciting opportunities to gather and celebrate Wolves basketball."
The block party's announcement came shortly after Governor Tim Walz declared Wednesday, May 22 as "Wolves Back Day."
Game 1 of the Western Conference Championships, between the Wolves and Dallas Mavericks, tips off at 7:30 p.m. at Target Center.
