Vikings receiver Jordan Addison will play in season opener against Giants

The former first-round pick injured his ankle while attempting to make a catch during a joint practice with the Cleveland Browns on Aug. 14.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Minnesota Vikings receiver Jordan Addison is a go for Sunday's season opener with the New York Giants.

The second-year receiver was a full participant in practice on Friday, and on Sunday, the team confirmed he would be active in New York.

The former first-round pick injured his ankle while attempting to make a catch during a joint practice with the Cleveland Browns on Aug. 14. He sat out the final two preseason games, but returned to practice earlier this week.

Addison is coming off a strong rookie season where he hauled in 70 catches for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns — the most receiving TDs of any rookie receiver last year.

Jalen Nailor will be active for Sunday's game against the Giants after being limited in practice throughout the week, he also had an ankle injury. Nailor had a strong offseason and is in line to take over as the team's No. 3 option at receiver.

In other roster moves, the Vikings activated running back Myles Gaskin and safety Bobby McCain ahead of Sunday's opener. Gaskin gives the Vikings a third option at running back, behind Aaron Jones and Ty Chandler. Gaskin also has some experience returning kicks, though special teams coordinator Mike Daniels said last week that Chandler would handle a bulk of those responsibilities.

McCain will provide some depth in the secondary after the team announced cornerbacks Fabian Moreau and Dwight McGlothern would be inactive for Sunday's game.

Among other inactives are wide receiver Trishton Jackson, quarterback Brett Rypien, defensive tackle Levi Drake Rodriguez, defensive end Jalen Redmond and tackle Walter Rouse.
