Weaving your way around Twin Cities Marathon

The racecourse will close several roads and thoroughfares in both Minneapolis and St. Paul this weekend.

MINNEAPOLIS — Drivers need to pay attention this weekend because the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon is taking over parts of Minneapolis and St. Paul.

The start of the race is on Sixth Street near U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Runners will travel south through the Minneapolis Chain of Lakes. The finish line is at the State Capitol in St. Paul. Several downtown Minneapolis streets and roads near the State Capitol will be shut down on Sunday. The race ends around 2:30 p.m. Sunday. 

According to the Twin Cities Marathon website, 5th Avenue to 11th Avenue and from 7th Street to 3rd Street in Minneapolis will be closed on Sunday. It begins at 4:00 a.m. for the starting line setup and will reopen at approximately 9 a.m. Sunday.

In St. Paul, Summit Avenue between Ramsey Street and Portland Avenue will be shut down Saturday at 6:45 a.m. through Sunday at 6 p.m.
