Lowry Tunnel to close 2 nights next week

Several ramps and some St. Paul tunnels are also closing for cleaning.

MINNEAPOLIS — The busy Lowry Tunnel on Interstate 94 will close in both directions overnight for two nights next week.

On Tuesday, Oct. 22 and Wednesday, Oct. 23, the tunnel will close from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning. The closure will allow crews to wash the tunnel.

Drivers can get back on the interstate via the ramps on Hennepin and Lyndale Avenues.

The ramp from Highway 55 westbound to I-94 westbound will be closed for the cleaning, from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday. 

The ramp from I-394 eastbound to I-94 eastbound, and the ramp from Highway 55 eastbound to I-94 eastbound will also be closed during the cleaning.

In St. Paul, crews will be washing tunnels at Highway 55 under Minnehaha Parkway, Highway 5 at Fort Snelling, and Fifth Street on Oct. 22-24. Those will require overnight closures, as well.
