MINNESOTA, USA — It's a warm start to the morning with lows 30 degrees warmer than when you woke up Wednesday morning.
A weak frontal system moves into the northwestern corner of the state Friday. On the warmer side of this boundary, temperatures heat up into the 70s with a gusty south wind up to 35 mph.
There is a slight chance of rain moving across the state overnight tonight into early Saturday morning. There is a higher chance to pick up showers on the north side of the metro with low chances of any rain south of Burnsville.
This same front is forecast to drop through the rest of the area Saturday morning, and a few spotty showers are possible. No significant rain is forecast through the weekend.
Temperatures will stay mild through at least Monday, with temps peaking Sunday. Many of us will be well into the 70s. The record high for MSP on Sunday is 83 degrees.
Look for a slightly better chance at some showers on Tuesday, but it won't amount to much. The latest drought monitor has nearly 30% of Minnesota under Severe Drought.
With no additional rain in the near-term forecast, drought conditions will likely get worse before getting better. Seasonal temperatures briefly return by the middle of next week.
