NEW BRIGHTON, Minn. — A temporary reprieve from winter is proving unwelcome to a frozen outdoor attraction in New Brighton.
Ice Castles in Minnesota announced Sunday that they are temporarily closed due to potentially record warm temperatures. "As a weather dependent attraction, we must do this from time to time to ensure a fun and safe experience for our guests," said Ice Castles spokesperson Melissa Smuzynski in an email to KARE 11 confirming the closure.
Smuzynski says Ice Castles hopes to reopen to visitors Monday after temps dip, and the forecast looks conducive to that happening. KARE 11 meteorologist JD Disharoon says morning lows Monday are expected in the low 20s.
All visitors who had purchased tickets for Sunday received a text, email and an automatic refund, along with a coupon to rebook for another day at a special discounted price.
