Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson is helped off the field during game Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024, in Minneapolis.

Minnesota Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday, a promising sign that he could be available this weekend against the Houston Texans.

Jefferson injured his quad in the third quarter during Minnesota's 23-17 win over the San Francisco 49ers and never returned. After the game, he said he was "not seriously injured" and anticipated being ready to go against the Texans.

"Hoping to get him a little bit more work throughout the week as we progress forward," said Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell on Wednesday. "I know Justin is very much looking forward to getting an opportunity to play, so if we can avoid any setbacks or things like that throughout the week, (we're) hoping to have him."

O'Connell also spoke about receiver Jordan Addison, who didn't participate in Wednesday's practice after missing Sunday's game against the 49ers with an ankle injury.

"Jordan is still kind of in that day-to-day world where we just have to see how he responds to whatever (the training staff) has prepared for him and then whatever he's able to take part in with us," O'Connell said. "Hopefully he progresses throughout the week."

Addison was injured in Week 1 against the New York Giants on a hit that was later ruled as "hip-drop tackle," which was banned in the offseason. According to NFL Insider Tom Pelissero, the league fined Giants linebacker Darius Muasau $4,696 despite no flag being thrown.

The team also announced that tight end Nick Muse was placed on short-term Injured Reserve with a fractured hand, and signed running back Myles Gaskin from the practice squad.
