Violence continues in St. Paul after shooting leaves 1 dead

This shooting marks the third homicide that has occurred in the past four days in the Capital City.

ST PAUL, Minn. — St. Paul police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Monday night, marking the third homicide in the city in four days.

Police report that a 911 caller reported a man was shot at Jackson Street and Wheelock Parkway around 9:30 p.m. Officers arrived on the scene and found the victim lying on the ground with multiple gunshot injuries.

That man later died at Regions Hospital.

Police say no one has yet been identified or arrested in Monday night's fatal shooting, adding to the list of unsolved crimes in recent days. If you have any information on this shooting, St. Paul police ask that you call 651-266-5650.

Just a two-minute drive away from Jackson and Wheelock, there was another fatal shooting on Saturday night near Woodbridge Street and Wheelock Parkway. St. Paul police said they responded to 911 calls of shots fired and found a man with multiple gunshot wounds. He died at the hospital.

Then on Friday night, a man was fatally stabbed to death on Seventh Street East in St. Paul. Police took a suspect into custody soon afterward.

A man shot at a USPS post office branch located at 7th St. and Alaska Ave. on Sunday is still alive, but is being treated for life-threatening injuries. The initial investigation suggests a conflict between post office co-workers may have motivated the shooting.

This story is developing and KARE 11 will update it as more information becomes available.
